Today’s Reading: Exodus 25-26, 1 Samuel 28-29, 2 Chron 9, Jeremiah 9-10, Amos 4, Job 38, Psalms 72-73, Mark 10, 2 Corinth 11-12
In this life, we barely perceive the true nature of God. Not even the half of His goodness has been told revealed to us. The depths of His grace, the wonders of His love, the beauty of His holiness, and the pureness of His truth remain unexplored and unappreciated. We have yet to experience His presence in all its fullness upon the earth.
2nd Chronicles 9:5 She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. 6 But I did not believe what they said until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half the greatness of your wisdom was told me; you have far exceeded the report I heard. 7 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!
God longs to be known but our contentment for what we can see limits our understanding. Our lack of perception hinders our appreciation of His awesome nature. The promises of His Word are choked out by the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches. The enemy comes and snatches His truth from our hearts, and we believe lies instead.
Jeremiah 9:23 This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, 24 but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.
All things are possible with God. His love for us spans time and space. He created the heavens with the Word of His command, but that same Word finds no place in our hearts. We’ve heard of His love and grace, but perhaps we don’t truly believe what He said. The Lord is glorious. He is majestic and awesome. He wants you to know Him… as He truly is. A loving Father, full of grace and mercy.
Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Prayer: Gracious Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for Your Word. You have revealed Yourself to me and I want to know You better. As Moses desired, show me Your face. Let me see Your glory. Reveal to me the secrets of Your covenant. Call me to come to You. Closer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
