Today’s Reading: Genesis 9-10, Joshua 9-10, 1 Chron 5, Isaiah 9-10, Lamentations 5, Job 5, Psalms 9-10, Matthew 5, Acts 8
One of the strongest Messianic prophecies ever written has yet to be fulfilled. But with all assurity, we can expect God to fulfill His Word and bring it to past. Christ will reign on the throne of David and rule upon the earth. God is passionately committed to make this come to pass.
Isaiah 9:6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
The Scriptures are being fulfilled before our very eyes. God is at work in the world executing His will and fulfilling His Word. As we read the Scriptures, we discover God’s plan for the world centers on Jesus. Jesus is at the heart of the mysterious plan of God that has now been revealed. We have the great privilege of being a part of it, being united with Christ and walking in His ways.
Matthew 5:17 “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.
As a follower of Christ, the gospel is ours to apprehend and hold. Our faith is built on the foundation of who Chrit is and what He has done. He is the Son of God. He is visible image of the invisible God. He is the creator of the universe and the living Word of God. The Scriptures speak of Him and proclaim the good news that Jesus saves!
Acts 9:29 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” 30 Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him. 32 The passage of Scripture he had been reading was this: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter. And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. 33 He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” 34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?” 35 So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus.
Prayer: Gracious Father, thank You for revealing Your Son to me. Thank You for the gift of faith You have given my heart to breath. Now blow Your Spirit into my heart and fill me with the confidence and boldness to walk in Your truth. As I read Your Word, conform me into the image of Your Son. In Jesus name, Amen.
