Today’s Reading: Levit. 19-20, 1 Kings 7, 2 Chron 26, Jeremiah 41-42, Micah 7, Proverbs 13, Psalms 103, Luke 11, 1 Timothy 3-4
Faithfulness is judged at the finish line. Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” The question of the day is “Which way are you pursuing in life?” Are you pursuing the way of the faithful, or the way of the unfaithful? The faithful listen to God’s voice, keep His commandments, and find favor in God’s eyes. Proverbs 3:3-6 encourages us, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
2nd Chronicles 26:16 But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. 17 Azariah the priest with eighty other courageous priests of the Lord followed him in. 18 They confronted King Uzziah and said, “It is not right for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord. That is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who have been consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful; and you will not be honored by the Lord God.”
The way of the unfaithful leads to dishonor. The way of the unfaithful leads to darkness. The way of the unfaithful leads to destruction. The way of the unfaithful is a path of deception. The way of the unfaithful leads to death. God sets His face against the unfaithful. They won’t find favor with God. Their destiny is death, darkness, and separation for all that they love and cherish.
Proverbs 13:15 Good judgment wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful leads to their destruction.
But not so with the faithful. The faithful find favor with God. His shines His face upon them. Their life is filled with light. love, and peace. The way of the faithful is one of righteousness, relationship, and intimacy with God. The faithful have hidden the Word of God in their hearts and are careful to live according to what is right in God’s eyes, not according to the traditions of the culture or practices of the world. Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” Which way are you walking?
1st Timothy 4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
Prayer: Gracious Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for Your faithfulness. I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You. I have chosen to be faithful. Help me to remain faithful all the days of my life. Help me remain consistent day by day, walking in the way of faithfulness. Keep me until the end and finish the work of righteousness You began in my life so long ago. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
